Exploratory Robots
Tasks
Exploratory robots tasks are to go places humans can't or where humans shouldn't go. These types of robots simulate humans data collecting ability, they thoroughly collect and analyze data.
Sensors
These robots use solar, thermal, sonar, and motion sensors. These robots generally use solar power if they are not to be underwater, thermal is used to locate warmer things, more than likely living things. They sonar to locate different buildings or landmasses, and motion sensors (as the name implies) finds things that move.
Pros & Cons
An advantage to these robots is that you could have the data before you send people to a possibly dangerous place, such as deep underwater. A disadvantage is that you pretty much have to rely on cameras for visibility. Cameras are generally blurry when moving,(especially on a moving robot.) so you can't see things for what they are.
Peoples Jobs!
Some jobs that people who work with exploratory robots are, constructive engineer, the builders and also military programmers.
Teaching Robots.
Exploratory robots are taught with sensors and pre-mapped areas. Afterwards it can map areas and collect data, with reprogramming if needed.
Where and what envelope?
NASA mainly creates the Exploratory robots. They are used in space, oceans, radioactive places, and other dangerous places.Exploratory robots have a work envelope of 360 degrees to ensure that it reaches what ti needs to.
End Effector
Exploratory robots end-effector is multi-functional. It can have a sort of grabber claw to pick things up, cameras, x-rays, or anything that an help it collect certain data.
The Impact
Exploratory robots have had a huge impact on our world today. We’ve had several go underwater in oceans and every year we find unknown species of fish and shellfish. The mars rover has collected data that can possibly show us some of mars’ past. In the future we could possibly map whole oceans and find new planets all with the help from exploratory robots.
In The Future
I predict that exploratory robots in the future will have "snake arms and cameras so they can reach in small compact areas such as in cracks in rock or underwater caves.
