What is it?
A condition that involves blocked or narrowed blood vessels caused by atheroma (fatty lumps that line blood vessels.)

Prevention
Don't smoke or use any kind of tobacco
Exercise daily for about 30 minutes at a time
Eat a healthy diet.
Risk Factors
Many cardiovascular diseases are causes by controllable or treated risk factors like cholesterol, obesity, tabacco use, diabetes, and physical activity.
There is help
Many treatments are the same for both men and women.
Can include lifestyle changes, medicines, medical and surgical procedures and cardiac rehab.
Know the Facts
*Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men aned women.
*Coronary heart disease is the most common heart disease
-It kills 370,000 people annually
*Every year 735,000 Americans have heart attacks.

Goals of Treatment
*Relieve symptoms
* Reduce risk factors to stall or
stop buildup of plaque.
*Lower risk of blood clots.

Don't become a statistic. Take the right precautionary steps to help prevent cardiovascular disease!
Effects on Personal Life
My grandma passed away due to cardiovascular disease. She had several heart attacks as well.
My dad has a heart condition where his heart goes in and out of rhythm, which really reminds me of the variety of heart diseases and conditions that are out there, and how big of a role it plays in people's lives.
