Transcript of Ancient Greece Theater

The dramatists wrote the plays. Few tragedies were written.There was only 3 tragedies which were written by Sophocles,Euripecles,and the Aeschylus.They are known to be the oldest tragedies in the world.The Comedies were very important to the Greek thater.
The Greek directors directed the actors and supervised them. They made sure they were doing what they were supposed to do.The anceint Greek directors had a very important role in the theater.
At the beginning the actors had to be chosen by poets. When the competition got tough they needed professional actors. They also had to wear wooden shoes with tall heals in order to look tall and impressive.
Aristophane and Menander wrote the comedies. The comedies poked fun at politicians,philosophers, and fellow artists. Uniquely the plays also reveal to us something of the idenity of the audience and show us just what tickled the Greeks' sense of humor.
Greek tragedy was a popular and influential form of drama performed across ancient Greece. The three playwriters were Sophocles Aeschylus, and Euripides.
Tragedy and Comedy
Greek tragedy and comedy was vey important to ancient Greece. The comedies were the most favorable of all but some people liked tragedies more.

With only 33 tragedies and 11 comedies the Greeks were responsible for the birth of drama in the western world.
