Transcript of The Beach Boys

The Beach Boys The Beach Boys 50th Annniversary Lead Singer: Mike Love The Beach Boys were originally formed in 1961 in Hawthorne, California. Brothers Brian, Dennis and Carl Wilson, along with cousin Mike Love and friend Al Jardine originally made up the group. Mike Love was born March 15th in Los Angeles, California. His parents were Milton and Emily Glee Wilson. His grandfather was the founder of the Love Sheet Metal Company. Both of Mike's parents were active in sports, but Mike was more interested in the arts. Mike Love graduated from Dorsey High School in 1959. He grew up in Southern California. Mike Love often sang with the Wilson brothers at family gatherings, but mostly at Christmas. Unsure of a career, he pumped gas and briefly joined his father's business, the Love Sheet Metal Company. The Beach Boys’ greatest album is the album Pet Sounds, including the songs “Wouldn’t it be Nice” and “God Only Knows” After the death of Carl Wilson in 1998, Mike Love continued to tour with the Beach Boys, along with Bruce Johnston and a supporting band of new musicians, occasionally including actor John Stamos. Murry Wilson, the Wilson brother's father, was the manager of the group. The Beach Boys were inducted into the Hall of Fame by Elton John in 1988.
