Transcript of Manita Airlines

Don't be nervous, we will fly you through the Nervous
Manita Airlines
A Stroke, or a brain attack can occur when a clot blocks the blood supply to a part of the brain, or when a blood vessel in or around the brain bursts
Strokes can cause disabilities such as: paralysis, muscle weakness, trouble speaking, and memory loss or even death.
Possible Turbulence:A Stroke
The brain sends messages through the spinal cord and nerves of the peripheral nervous system to control the movement of the muscles and the function of internal organs.
The human brain contains about 100 billion neurons
Neurons
aid the human body to control voluntary movement, detect incoming light, sound, odor, taste, pressure, and heat and send messages to/ from the brain
The Brain
A tube of neurons that runs up the spine and attaches to the brain stem
Information from nerves that branch out to the rest of the body goes to the spinal cord

The Spinal Cord
Possible Turbulence: Spasticity

Muscle control disorder (inability to control muscles/stiff muscles)
Caused by an imbalance of signals from the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord)
Found in those with a spinal cord injury, brain injury
Peripheral Nervous System
Network of 43 pairs of motor and sensory nerves that connect the brain and spinal cord to the entire human body
Control the functions of sensation, movement and motor coordination.
Possible Turbulance: Mononeuropathy
Damage to a single peripheral nerve
Caused by physical injury or trauma
Long-term pressure could also cause Mononeuropathy
