Who, What, When, Where and Why?
The Coalition was established in 1982, incorporated as a 501(c)3 in 1988, and has evolved to be the lead agency coordinating the community response to homelessness in Houston.
Purpose Mission Statement
The Coalition for the Homeless of Houston/Harris County is a private, nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide leadership in the development, advocacy, and coordination of community strategies to prevent and end homelessness.
Why I chose this organization
Homelessness has always had a spot in my heart for may reasons. Each and everyday I see the homeless standing in the harsh weather for money. It makes the facts worse because they are military veterans as well. And whenever I look at them I realize how easy my life really is. They spend all their days homeless after they risked their lives serving our country. So I want to help all the homeless veterans have a better life and fair life.

Although the Coalition does not provide any direct services to clients, it serves as the backbone organization to many other groups that do. The Coalition serves those who serve the homeless through research, project management, system capacity building, and public policy.
