In the latest development in the long-running dispute between Cathay Pacific and certain of its former pilots (popularly referred to as the “49ers”), the Court of Appeal has recently reversed the finding of the Court of First Instance that Cathay pilots were wrongfully dismissed. The Court also substantially reduced the amount of damages awarded to the pilots for defamation.
