Somatotypes Objectives
All - Be able to identify the three somatotypes and provide at least one example for each
Most - Identify activities where different body types are an advantage
Some - Explain the effect each can have on participation and performance Endomorph (Fatness) Often grouped into sports that depend on power
E.G. Rugby players need extra body fat means that they can get more weight behind themselves Mesomorph (Muscularity) Short burst of energy

Their muscular build often means they are stronger and better able to cope with anaerobic exercise
EG: 100m Sprinter Ectomorph (Thinness) Tend to excel at long distance events, such as the marathon. Who would win in a race between...... SOMATOTYPING IS A WAY TO DESCRIBE BODY BUILD

IT MEASURES HOW FAT, HOW MUSCULAR AND HOW LINEAR YOU ARE, IN THAT ORDER

For example, an athletes somatotype might be 2:6:3 which means 2/7 for fatness, 6/7 for muscle and 3/7 for thinness Mr Fildes
