Blueprint for Success
About Me!
My name is Carmen Smith and I’m 14 years old. I enjoy being at New Tech immensely and I’m looking forward to all four years here! After I graduate, I’d like to major in graphic design at Full Sail University and become the head artist for the Sonic the Hedgehog comics or work for SEGA and become a video game designer for characters such as Silver the Hedgehog or Amy Rose.
I was born in Hanford, CA, on June 21, 1999. I lived there for about 5 years, and moved to Fort Rucker, Alabama for a year, then moved back to Hanford for another 4 years. In 2010, my family and I moved to Arroyo Grande, CA, where we still live today. Before coming to New Tech, I’ve been to about 5 schools, Reedley Preschool, Fort Rucker Primary, Monroe Elementary, Hanford Christian, Harloe Elementary, and finally Paulding Middle School. My mom is a secretary at Laguna Middle School and my dad is a helicopter pilot in the National Guard. My sister, Vanessa, is currently a student at Paulding Middle School, and is 12.

Interests and Hobbies

In my free time, I enjoy playing video games on my Wii (which is unfortunately the only system I have), watching Egoraptor and JonTron on YouTube, and reading the Sonic comics. I also like reading anime and manga, which is what drove my friend Chloe and I to start an Anime Club here at New Tech. I’m also a part of Mock Trial, Avatar Club, and Music Club. Guitar is one of my specialties as well, and I hope to be a guitarist in a band before I finish college. I love to sketch cartoons such as Animaniacs, Sonic Underground, and My Little Pony. I also enjoy creating my own cartoons and I’m currently working on one called Dreams Become Reality.

After I graduate from New Tech, I'm going to live with a couple of my friends in San Luis Obispo and attend Cuesta College for a minor in Art and Design. I plan to attend for two years.
In my sophmore year at Cuesta, I'd like to start applying for different art colleges, my top three being Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida, Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida, and Savannah College of Art and Design, where my cartooning idol, Tracy Yardley, went to become what he is now, the head artist for Archie Sonic the Hedgehog. I would prefer to be accepted into Full Sail University because my friend and I are planning on going together, and they have the specific degree that I want, Graphic Arts and Digital Media.
Once I graduate from one of those universities, I plan on being a computer designer for SEGA or the head artist for the Archie Sonic the Hedgehog or Sonic Universe comics.
Goals
Learning Style
I am a red learning style, meaning that I'm independent, a kinetic learner and I learn by doing. For instance, if I were doing a microscope project in Biology, I could learn better by actually using the microscope instead of reading about it.
I am also a musical learner, meaning that I have the ability to know when something is off or not right. I can isten to music while I study to connect the song and beat to what I would be studying currently. I can repeat the song before the test and I would hopefully get a good mark on it. Furthermore, creating a song or chant to memorize the material I'm studying would benefit me the most.
