The main characters in American Born Chinese were Jin Wang, a monkey king and Wei-Chen Sun. Jin is a boy that moved from San Francisco who is Chinese. A monkey king who calls himself a deity. Wei-Chen Sun, a boy who is the son of the monkey king and a friend of Jin Wang.
The story took place in two main areas: a heaven or place of the gods and also at a school. At the god place, all the gods were there. The school was where Wei-Chen Sun and Jin Wang went to school.
Conflict Pt. 2
After Jin (Danny) changed, he began to get visits from his relative Chin-Kee from China. When Chin-Kee is there he ruins Danny's life by embarrassing him. That is why he had to go to 3 schools. The third year he came, Danny finds out who his relative really is. Chin-Kee is the monkey god or the father of Wei-Chen Sun.
Danny finally can not stand Chin-Kee anymore, so he get in a fight with him and punches off his head. Danny finds that the monkey king is disguised as Chin-Kee but is really the monkey king. Then Danny turns back to Jin Wang because of what the monkey king said, "I would have saved myself 500 years under a rock if I just accepted being a monkey."
Conflict Pt. 1
The conflict in American Born Chinese was that Jin Wang did not feel accepted because he was Chinese. Wei-Chen Sun move to his school from Taiwan and made him feel accepted. When he got in a fight with Wei-Chen Sun, Jin changed himself physically.
