love "no matter what"
often related to God, religion
strong, selfless love for another individual that does not necessarily include sexual desires
Work Chosen:
Jay Gatsby
What does it mean/Why was it created?
F. Scott Fitzgerald elaborately depicts the age-old dilemma behind a man lusting over a woman seemingly "out of his league" or just flat-out cannot have.
It shows Gatsby with an undying flame of affection for Daisy, despite her having already been married and is shown with many, many mental and emotional flaws and inadequacies that would generally drive others away.

"Nationalism Through Sport",

2010
What does it mean/Why was it created?
It's a photo showing the mass amounts of extreme pride and nationalism during events such as hyped sports matches.
It depicts strong emotion, love, and joy, for one's country, which cannot, technically, love you back.
Personal Definition:
a love between friends that is NOT romantic
Work chosen:
Military Friends
What does it mean/Why was it created?
It was made to show the bond formed between teammates, fellow soldiers, classmates, etc.
Patrick Jost and Some of His Friends",

2011
This photo shows the brotherly love present between these soldiers in the military. Just from sharing one large common interest, just about all of these men and women are now great friends and watching each other's backs every step of the way.
Work chosen:
Strong Teammates in Sports
"Richard Sherman's Teammates Absolutely Love Him",

2014
What does it mean/Why was it created?
This photo was created to show the excitement and other various emotions that resonate from establishing a brotherly love on and off the field.
PHILEO
PHILEO
Why does it represent Phileo?
This photo displays and extreme amount of brotherly love between teammates. Emotional chemistry amongst players of the same team is nearly as important as physical skill itself. When the 2013 Seattle Seahawks combined both of these together in the manner that they did, it's no surprise they eventually walked away as NFL champs.

"Family Matters"
"'Family Matters' Cast",
www.huffpost.com,
2013
What does it mean/Why was it created?
It was created to show the cast of "Family Matters", a show that (as obvious by its title) represents true family values and the importance of it.

intimate

"love at first sight"
Work chosen:
What does it mean/Why was it created?
This work was created to demonstrate a basic, poetic-style tragedy. Even though often depicted as a great love story, in my opinion, it's more of just the lust between overly hormonal teenagers.

Why does it represent Eros?
Even though not every cast member of this show is part of the Winslow family, the ones that are always remain close and deal with problems (Urkel) together.

These books, in theme, are not too different from any other given children's book. It's all about doing positive things and how to overcome basic adversity.
The book series consists of a family of bears, each of which are named according to their respective family role (Mama Bear, Papa Bear, Brother Bear, Sister Bear). Despite their own personal adventures, they remain close as a family and display quality values together.
Romeo & Juliet desired greatly to be with each other, despite it being heavily against their families' wishes. They want, desperately, to be together, and they go to extreme measures to "prove" it.
The song was made to express love and/or physical desire for another woman.
Marvin Gaye is vocalizing his deep aspiration and desire to be with this woman and to be intimate with her (getting it on).
"Let's get it on, let's love baby"
"I'm asking you, baby, to get it on with me"
"Let me groove you good"
