Transcript of "Lord Teach Me How To Pray"

What Is Prayer?
Prayer is simply defined as
communication with God
Prayer should simply be a conversation with the father, where we express to Him
our heart concerning various matters and we receive what He would have for us in return.
There Must Be A Give In Take
We Are To Always Pray
What Does This Mean?
Contend for a Life of prayer (communion with God)
1 Thessalonians 5:17
Luke 18:1
Praying without ceasing is living a life in constant communion with the Lord
Thinking about Him,
Talking to Him, Thanking Him, Talking About Him, Listening
"Living In the Spirit"
Many Times we live too comfortable in the flesh. Our flesh and our spirit are at odds with each other. The enemy's plan is to get us caught up in the cares of life where we neglect to in contact with the source of "our" Live
Matthew 6:9
Matthew 6:10
Matthew 6:11
The Lord's Prayer
Matthew 6:7-13
We must first acknowledge our need for Him.
We must make sure our perspective is right when we approach Him, He is God, the Father of creation
He is our "Abba" Father (Romans 8:15)
"Abba" means daddy or papa. We refer to Him in this capacity because we have been adopted into His family
Hallowed be thy name is an expression of worship that simply acknowledges the greatness of the name of the Lord.
Pray for the will of God
Prayer is not a place for your personal agenda. ITS ALL ABOUT GOD'S AGENDA
We must pray that His kingdom is either revealed or manifested in every situation that we are praying about.
Praying this way gives the situation over to God. He is sovereign and everything He does is excellent trust Him
Our perspective must continuously be that we need the Lord.
This also teaches us that we need the Lord daily. He sustains us everyday.
This portion of the prayer is also an implication of God’s ability to supply, referring to the manna that God gave to the children of Israel in the wilderness.
Matthew 6:12
We must pray from a place of repentance
Every day when we pray, we must understand the power of the Lord’s grace and mercy in the remission of our sins.
We must also be ever conscious of the Lord’s provision on the cross especially as we deal with individuals that have sinned against us or offended us.
We must display mercy to people who have sinned against
Matthew 6:13
At the close of the model prayer is a doxology from 1 Chr 29:11
David praised God recognizing that He was the God of the universe and that He was all-powerful. David made it clear that all glory belonged to God.
We must remember to close our prayers with celebration of the God that we have just prayed to and believed
1) Acknowledge God as your Lord and that you need Him
2) Esteem Him with Worship for who He is
3) Don't pray what you want but pray for His Will and Kingdom
4)Request God's Super natural provision
5)Come to God with a heart of repentance and humility
6) Close your prayer acknowledging His Power and ability to do it!
Tools In Prayer
2 Corinthians 10:1-6
Ephesians 6:12
We Live in the Flesh, but our battles are always spiritual
The way we fight is not naturally but it is by the TOOLS that God gives us through the Spirit
We fight against arguments, thoughts, and plans of the flesh.
If the devil can keep you thinking in the flesh you will be bond to the flesh
We bring these things to the "OBEDIENCE" of Christ (Philippians 2:5-11)
"Intercession" Definition:
To go or pass between; to act between parties with a view to reconcile those who differ or contend; to interpose; to mediate or make intercession; mediation.

-An intercessor is a person who takes the place of another and represents their case. When we begin to intercede we are actually going in place of other people or situations.

-We intercede for people who are not believers, or who don’t have the faith to see the results for themselves.
Example of Intercessors
Abraham in Genesis 18:16-33
Jesus Christ
Intercession is a
Prayer of Petition/

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be known to God.” Philippians 4:6 (NKJV)
The prayer of supplication is basically making a request to God for something you desire.

(Supplication is for yourself and Intercession is for another Person

We are to supplicate/petition the Lord for Him to move on our behalf for particular issues referring to our personal needs and desires.
“You shall also decide and decree a thing, and it shall be established for you: and the light of God’s favor shall shine upon your ways.” Job 22:28(AMP Version)
1.To make known formally or officially. See Synonyms at announce.
2. To state emphatically or authoritatively; affirm.
3. To reveal or make manifest; show.

A part of the tools the Lord has given us believers is the power of our words. We have the ability to decree and declare a thing into existence because of our position as sons of God.

In prayer we have the ability speak forth the will of God. We must always be sure to pray according to the will of God. When we decree and declare those things that fall in line with God’s will, things must come into existence.
Tools of Prayer
5)Praying in the Spirit
Luke 18:1-8
Inflict such harm on behalf of (oneself or someone else previously wronged or harmed): "we must avenge our dead".
“And He replied to them, this kind cannot
be driven out by anything but prayer
and fasting”
Mark 9:29 (AMP Version), Matthew 4:1-3
When we fast and pray, we are physically displaying how much we are giving up in our own strength and understanding and giving it over to the Father so that He can move in strength and power.
2 Corinthians12:19

We must die to our flesh so that He can rise in the strength of His spirit.

Fasting is a transporter to the realm of supernatural allowing us to flow in the spirit because we have set aside the things of the flesh.
Praying In the Spirit
Praying in the Spirit is a tool that the Lord has given to the church to be able to pray out the mysteries of heaven.
For when we pray in the Spirit the enemy is not able to comprehend what we are praying because it surpasses this real
The enemy is the prince of the air (according to Ephesians 2). When the Lord has something He wants to get accomplished in the earth, He will go beyond the realm where Satan is residing directly into the spirits of His people on the earth to execute His plans.
“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance.” Ephesians 6:18

"But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit” Jude 20

“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we out to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express” Romans 8:26
Travail is a very vital part of spirit-led praying

Romans 8:26

The Lord uses man, to give birth to His plans and will on the earth.

When the Lord begins to move us to travail, He actually uses our physical bodies, with groanings and moanings, to birth out His agenda.

In travail we become a womb of God in the earth to give birth to His plans
Mark 22-24
Having faith in God can accomplish the impossible
Jesus used this particular situation to show the magnitued of what God can do in a hard situation
*Matthew 9:23
Hebrews 11:6
It is impossible to please God without faith
You must believe!
Consistency pruduces results

Matthew 17:20

Hebrews 11:6

We must have faith to allow Him to move in the miraculous. The measure of faith a believer has in prayer determines the level of signs and wonder they will experience

Psalms 149:6
We must always celebrate the Lord for what He will do.
Praise is a weapon that assists in activating our faith to see miracles.
We must never spend a time in prayer without praising and thanking God for who He is and what He can do on our behalf.
Psalms 33:1
Praise Looks good on you.
Isaiah 61:3
Psalms 149:6
It is important to understand that as people of God, we have been called to warefare. Praise is apart of our warefare against the forces of darkness
2 Chronicle 20:1-25
The Word
2 Chronicles 20:1-25
Jehosephat's first response was to seek the Lord.
Verse 11- Jehosophat reminded the Lord that the land they lived in was His (God's). (see his perspective about his possession's)
Then Jehosophat requested God to move becuase he nor his people didn't have the power in their natural ability. (humility is the key!)
They were instructed that the battle was not their's but the Lord's.
Verse 18-19- Notice the contrast of the people worshipping and the Levites (priest) praising.
The Lord sent "Ambushes "
a trap in which concealed persons lie in wait to attack by surprise
Verse 25 - They left with the army's posessions!
Connect verse 25 back to verse 11
