This is our collaboration project for 4.07 in Florida Virtual School, Biology Honors Course. It is in the form of a Prezi, and describes our Eco-Friendly House choice for the "Living Green" show. We are Joshua Puentes and Romina Homayoun. :)

The cost of the insulated windows are $550 each. Insulation can help resist incorrect heat flow by making our homes more eco-friendly, lowering our bills, and lowering the rate of air pollution. Adding this insulation will also give a more quiet and peaceful home, insulating sound. We lower our heating bill 20% and save hundreds every year. As we lower these bills, we lower harmful CO2 and pollutant emissions on Earth from fossil fuels. Our insulation saves 60 times more energy each year than all CFLs, and other products combined. It begins working the minute it is installed, lasts a life time, and does not require any extra management or costs.
Our Solar Panel Efficiency After 10 Years
Each year, about 14,976 pounds of CO2 and other harmful gases emit into the atmosphere to create energy to fuel homes. Our solar power can help lower these emissions by reproducing the energy it needs for itself. After ten years of the solar panels in our home, there is a 65% efficiency rate, and the payback period is four years.
Our Lightwave Microwave Efficiency After 10 Years of Usage
The 10% efficiency after 10 years is a dream come true, considering not many microwaves can have that greatness in their photovoltaic solar cells! By saving and conserving lots of the energy and helping the environment, this appliance is long-lasting. The minute we plug it in, it begins to work and it doesn't require any further costs or maintenance.
Our Solar Powered Water Heater Efficiency and Reliability after 10 Years of Usage
After 1- years of using this appliance, it is highly efficient and useful. The payback period can go up to 7 years! It will include an extra $3500 for protective covering of the solar collectors. That is included in our budget and costs during the 10 years. Not all installations require a follow-up maintanence, because the system is up and running the second it is properly installed by the professional.
Renewable Sources are energy sources that can be easily replenished in a short amount of time. It can be renewed naturally or through sustainable practices, and techniques. Examples of renewable sources are the sun, wind, and water. They can be in the forms of solar power, wind power, and hydropower, in that order. Forests and trees and wildlifes can be renewable, if they are protected properly from endangerment and harmful human activity. Renewable sources are not considered fossil fuels because they are normally less harmfull and difficult.

Nonrenewable Sources are natural energy sources that can't be easily replenished in a short amount of time, which is the total opposite of a renewable source. The three main nonrenewable sources are petroleum, natural gas, and coal. They are considered the three main fossil fuels. Currently, we are running out of our nonrenewable sources and that isn't good, because they can take an extremely long time to replenish or not at all.

Natural gases are used for many things such as fuel for fires or even for some types of vehicles. The natural gas propane is used for stoves and ovens in homes across the country. Propane is also used for forklifts, and even some cars run on propane. Propane and other natural gases let go of carbon dioxide and other harmful gases into the air when they are burned, which makes it a type of fossil fuel.
Petroleum is used to make diesel and other fuels. Diesel and petroleum burn very dirty. This means that when they are burned the gases that they release are harmful to the atmosphere and to our bodies. Petroleum is also burned in power plants to make energy.
Coal is a type of fossil fuel made from other fossil fuels and it is used to make oil and gasoline. It was originally used in old trains that burned for fuel. To get coal to the state that it is used in, gasoline and oil go through many processes of intense heat and pressure. This makes it difficult to replenish once we run out.

Solar Powered Water Heater
The cost of the solar powered water
heater is $895. Solar water heating systems include storage tanks and solar collectors, so it is an effective package. They are resistant to freezing temperatures. After installing the system, proper management will keep it running perfectly. Sometimes, they might require a replacement after 10 to 20 years. This appliance has an efficiency of 30%. These water heaters also reduce C02 emissions, and the appliance works great in every climate, especially areas with access to sunlight, like Florida!
Solar Panels
The cost of the solar panel whole system is $30,000. Investing in these high-quality, reliable solar power systems make great economic rewards. They produce lots of clean energy, and lower our electric power bills to something way more affordable. Panels perform very well. They convert 22% of their energy into actual electrical energy that can be properly and easily used.
The cost of the light wave microwave is $150. This new lightwave technology of electromagnetic waves can lower our electricity bills a whole lot. As well as that, it is safer and more efficient, while it uses a whole lot less energy. It is sustainable, and requires little to no maintanence or management, or extra costs. Once it is installed, it works effectively.
The cost of the steam washer is $900. This efficient addition to our Eco-Friendly home limits the amount of water used as a conservational and sustainable practice. At the same time, that can lower our water bills and electricity bills. As well as that, it is highly safer and more efficient when it comes to fabric products.

These double-layered solar insulated windows are the perfect way to lower our energy bills. It becomes evident ten years after installation. Our home becomes more comfortable during the many seasons. It helps reduce heat transfer across any type of building, and in this case, the house. The windows will last up to 10-25 years. They are safer, too.
Our steam washer limits the amount of water that is used. You know what that means! Lower water bills! Lower energy bills! Lower electricity bills! It is safer to use with fabric, as well. During the duration of 10 years of installation, it works properly, and the payback period can be up to 5 years. The technology has an efficiency of up to 25%, and that's a lot considering circumstances of solar power and effectiveness.
