At-Ta'if was the home of Thaqeeh, a clan of the tribe of Hawazin, an Aribian tribe resided south of Makkah
The people of Hawazin were a very strong group of were a very strong of idol worshippers . they had bitter feelings for Muslims
People of At-Taif were very bad to Prophet
(SAW) when he visited the city to call
them to Islam.

They disbelieved in him and even threw rocks at him, causing him to bleed.

HAWAZIN WAR PLAN
HAWAZIN WAR PLAN
The men were impressed when they saw the muslims dressed all in white like angels on horses; same sight that was visible to the Quraysh at the Battle of Badr

When they returned , they advised Malik not to fight with Muslims because they were scarec that they will lose the battle .Malik did not listen to them and locked them in jail.

Malik then prepared a surprise attack against the Muslims. He positioned 1000s of his fighters behind the mountains and ambush them in given time.

He was confident of winning the
battle.
AT-TA'IF BECOMES A MUSLIM CITY

Malik Ibn Awf, and the other leaders of Hawazin tribe work hard for years until they became muslims

At-Ta'if sent a delegation to Madinah in Ramadan of 9th year after Hijrah, to meet Prophet ( SAW) they negotitated some terms before accepting Islam.

The people of Thaqeef asked the Prophet not to demolish their main idol " At-lat" they wanted time.

They also asked him to pray without wudoo'
because of the cold weather.
AT-TA'IF BECOMES A MUSLIM CITY
HADEETH SHAREEF
Abdullah Ibn Omar (R.A) narrated that Rasooluah (SAW) said : " Three manners lead to destruction; acting upon greed, following desires and becoming proud of one's self And three manners lead to safety; fearing Allah in private and public ,
moderate spending when poor or rich, and acting justly while anger or happiness"
HAWAZIN PREPARED FOR WAR
The hawazin had heard about the liberations of Makkah by theMuslims and they became worried. They wanted to help the Quraysh as they has strong relationship with them. So Hawazin tribe assembled army of 20,000 men.

2 weeks after liberating Makkah on 10th of Shawwal, in 8th year after Hijarah, the Muslim army had grown bigger, because many men of Quraysh had joined them. The Muslim army was 12,000 strong, comprished of 10,000 soldiers from Madinah and rest from Makkah.

The Muslims were over confident that they would be victorious over Hawazin because their army was so big. Infact, it was the largest Muslim army ever assembled up to date

The leader of the Hawazin tribe was Malik Ibn Awf. He was brave and smart.

But he had a weakness that he did not take anyones advice seriously.

Malik believed that soldiers would fight more courageously if their families were at rear cheering them on and they would not run away
from the fight leaving their family in danger
\
Malik sent three men to go and
check on the Muslim army

And they asked him to allow pray without making Rukoo' and Sujood!. The Prophet (SAW) couldn't grant their requests because only Allah rules on these things.

However the Prophet told the delegation they didn't have to destroy the idol themselves and that he would sent his companions Al Mugheerah Ibn Shu'bah and Abu Sufyan to do that for them. they agreed to this idea

Allah responded to the hopes and prayers of Prophet
Muhammad (SAW) and this important part of
Arabia finally rejected idol worship and
accepted the true deen.
