What Does the Urinary System do? Your body takes nutrients from food and uses them to maintain all bodily functions including energy and self-repair. The left over nutrients have to pass through the body and let out. we have two bean-shaped kidneys one on each side of our spinal cord near the lower back one behind the stomach and the other behind the liver Remove liquid waste from the blood Keep a stable balance of salts and other substances in the blood Produce eythropietien KIDNEY Narrow tubes that carry urine fromt he kidneys to the bladder. Muscles in the ureter walls continually tighten and relax forcing urine downwards away from the kidneys. About every 10-15 seconds, small amounts of urine are emptied into the bladder from the ureters TWO URETERS a triangle shaped hollow organ locaed in the lower abdomen.
Held in place by ligaments that are attached to other organs and the pelvic bones. Bladder walls relax and expand to store urine.
Typical healthy adult bladder can store up to 2 cups of urine for 2--5 hours BLADDER CIRCULAR MUSCLES THAT HELP KEEP URINE FROM LEAKING BY CLOSING TIGHTLY LIKE A RUBBER BAND AROUND THE OPENIN OF THE BLADDER.
