a person -Weak and timid
-Slave to the will of
Pozzo
-A rope surrounds
Lucky's neck -Lucky wears a rope around his neck
-Rope may be taken as a noose or leash
-Rope seperates the two
-Rope appears shorter in Act 2 -Pozzo owns Lucky
-Lucky is subject to the will of Pozzo -Lucky represents mankind and is subject to the will of Pozzo
-Pozzo has this odd influence over Lucky -Lucky is submissive to others
-He could emancipate himself, but he chooses not to

Estragon asks, "He never refuses?" Pozzo replies, "He refused once." (41) -There is the question of free will
