Approach to Strategic Health & Wellness
Involves a formal or informal review of:

Current employee health practices

Level of commitment from management

Programs and processes compared to best practices

Current evaluation process
Our proprietary on line employee health risk assessment, the Connex Health Risk and Productivity Assessment© identifies health risks, lifestyles, and wellness program preferences among employees.

Questions are based on validated tools and national standards for physical and mental health, including workplace culture. The survey also addresses program preferences and willingness to change.

Confidential results are provided to individuals at the completion of the survey.

Aggregate results and recommendations are provided to the employer with no individual identifiers. CHRPA© Survey Categories:

The plan is based on assessment results and what we know about the organization and their objectives.
Our Wellness Website™ template can be customized for each employer’s unique programming choices, with their own url, branding, and content. Employees can view newsletters, health tips from Connex, sign up for programs and access internal and external resources. Employers can choose from any of our 9 programs to deliver. We support the employer through the promotion, delivery and evaluation process to maximize employee participation and measure results.

Each Program in a Box™ kit includes communication materials, program design options, and measurement and evaluation forms, plus access to a list of health professionals who can assist with delivery. Employers have access to our Measuring for Wellness™ services where we will evaluate the program data collected and report back on the results. Program data is designed to evaluate knowledge transfer, behaviour change, risk reduction.

Ultimately re administering the health risk assessment will help us evaluate longer term measures such as changes in absenteeism, presenteeism and overall improvements in health behaviours and risks, leading to actual return on investment data. Why Should You be Interested in Wellness? Healthier employees

Improved workplace culture

Lower absenteeism

Lower benefit costs

Reduced presenteeism

Retention and attraction Methodology based on best practices

Surveys include validated research tools

Promotions that engage employees

Programs that reflect national standards

Evaluation and measurement that delivers results Blood pressure screening is important because:

There are often no signs or symptoms if blood pressure is high (hypertension).

Untreated hypertension increases the risk of heart disease and/or stroke.

Hypertension affects 1 in 5 Canadians and as the population ages, the prevalance of hypertension will increase.

When employees do not take their medication, blood pressure is not controlled, which wastes money and puts employees at risk for heart disease and/or stroke. What is the ROI? BUT
Depends on:

Whether programs are targeted based on needs, risk and preferences

Program participation

Programs you deliver

What you are measuring.

That is why the Conference Board of Canada and Excellence Canada advocate a strategic approach. Using a needs assessment, that identifies risks and program preferences

Understanding current drivers of disease through a benefits analysis (larger groups)

Creating a multi year plan for addressing areas identified in assessment

Delivering programming that is well designed, communicated and measurable
