Pablo Picasso was born in Málaga, Spain on October 25, 1881.
When Picasso was born, the midwife thought he was stillborn. His uncle, a doctor, saved his life. "Doctors at that time, used to smoke big cigars, and my uncle was no exception. When he saw me lying there he blew smoke into my face. To this I immediately reacted with a grimace and a bellow of fury"- Picasso
His father, an artist as well as professor, taught him formal artistic training in figure drawling and oil painting.
Picasso's Major Accomplishment/Awards
He earned the Lenin Peace Prize previously called the Stalin peace prize
He died on April 8, 1973.
When Was Picasso Born?
Pablo's first word was piz, short for lápiz. He painted his first painting at the age of 9 depicting a man riding a horse in a bullfight. He was a terrible student, though very smart. His classmates were five to six years older than him. He didn't like being told what to do, so he was often thrown into detention. He was put into a "calaboose"- a cell with white walls and a bench to sit on.

Picasso and Chagall, two of the greatest painters of the last century, were friends.
He was a suspect of stealing the Mona Lisa in 1911, but was later released
