What is
a. Definition
i. derived from the Latin work "socius" meaning "companion" or "associate" and the word "logos", a Greek word for "study".

ii. the study of association, group, society, and social interaction.

iii. the study of patterns of human interaction within society and how these patterns emerge, persists, and change. (Ward and Stone, 1996)
SOCIOLOGY
b. SOCIETY
a system of interacting individuals and interrelated groups sharing a common culture and territory.
c. PIONEERS
i. Henry Saint Simon
wrote his ideas on the science of society based on the assumption that the law of human behavior could be determined in the manner that the law of nature had been arrived at by natural scientist
ii. Auguste Comte
a French Philosopher, advocated the idea of 'positivism', the use of emperical investigation to understand society
iii. Herbert Spencer
wrote his ideas on the science of society based on the assumption that the law of human behavior could be determined in the manner that the law of nature had been arrived at by natural scientist
