Personal interview. October 5, 2012. The Philippines is one of the competitive countries in the world. It is known for many promising public figures. However, we as Filipinos don't seem to appreciate these public figures. Especially politicians. Whether we admit it or not, most Filipinos have bad impressions about politicians. This is due to many reports about some politicians who were involved in criminal cases like abuse and corruption.
However, a certain person in Cavite have proven something. He has proven that not all politicians are cruel and should be hated by many. Some can admired by people and loved by the community. Who might this person be? This person is
former-mayor Patrocinio Z. Gulapa of
Maragondon, Cavite. He is very famous for
his title "Barakong Mayor". He's known as a disciplinarian and a very responsible leader.
This presentation will re-introduce him to
the public and reveal a very inspiring story
for all Filipinos. BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY Patrocinio Z. Gulapa is very popular in the municipality of Maragondon and other nearby places due to his contribution to the progress of the said place. He is known to be a disciplinarian when he implemented rules in his community.
People of Maragondon called him "Barakong Mayor" because he was very courageous, and he showed total leadership and strength of a Caviteño. INTRODUCTION COMMUNITY PROFILE The Municipality of Maragondon is a third class municipality in the province of Cavite, Philippines. Maragondon is 54 kilometers away from Manila going southwest. According to the 2010 census, it has a population of 35,289 people. This municipality is in the east of South China Sea. The name Maragondon was derived from the Tagalog word madagundong or, Maugong,, meaning much sound. Actually the sound comes from a noisy river called “Kay Albaran” in the barrio of Capantayan. This area was the first townsite selected, but: because the river frequently overflowed its banks and inundated the place it was later transferred to its present site. The word madagundong not being pleasant to the ears, the people had it changed to Marigundong in honor of the town’s patron saint, Nuestra Senora Maria Asuncion (Our Lady of the Assumption). History of Maragondon, Cavite Composition of the Team
As the team starts to know more about the life of Patrocinio Z. Gulapa, the research members creates a way in making a good baseline for it’s main topic by assigning people on their expertise. Stig Marcson Lance Riman (IV-Hydrogen) as the song composer and a video editor.Adrian Paul Andrade (IV-Oxygen) and Carlo Miguel Manalo(IV-Nitrogen), to be known as the writers, Rennard Marquez(III-Hydrogen) and Erika Mae Lucerna (III-Fluorine) as video editors too. Fatima Ellaine Sisracon as the artist, and Eden Joy Abesamis(IV-Oxygen) as the photographer. The research team gives full effort and gives their best in order to make progress and finish the task given. METHODOLOGY Meticulous Editing
One of the hardest parts of the project was the very meticulous editing of videos, pictures and the whole website. The writers should always have their erasers on as the teacher-coaches help them in editing the write-ups. The writers had to come up with the appropriate or proper words all the time. Gratefully, the teacher-coaches were very helpful in editing the write-ups needed for the website.
As for the videos and photos, the team decided to make use of photo and video editing software. Adobe Photoshop CS3 was mainly used for editing pictures needed for the website, and Sony Vegas for editing important videos. That was the hardest part: editing of videos. Time was really needed for this. For the whole Prezi presentation to be successful, the most important thing to remember is especially patience. BIBLIOGRAPHY HISTORY OF MARAGONDON, CAVITE

After the research team was ordered and planned, the team immediately began conceptualizing about the schedule of activities, the appearance of the Prezi presentation, videos, and photos. In addition, the website designs and layouts were also planned. The research team decided that the Prezi presentationshould appear like a vintage and traditional look to have a unique and good outlook. The team has already decided and organized on everything.
After conceptualizing the website design and layout the group started the data gathering. A survey was conducted in Maragondon. The question is “Do they agree on the way how former Mayor Patrocinio Z. Gulapa led his town?”
The team went from the nice parts of Maragondon to the forest part of the town to look for the respondents. They were most likely senior citizens for they were the only ones who were able to reach his term as mayor. Another survey was conducted in PVAO. The main reason for this was to hear the side Emmanuel de Ocampo which was known to be his rival.
Arranging of Data
The data gathered were in such a boom of information, so the researchers needed time to arrange the data to be prepared for the final editing. Videos recorder were segregated during their days of recording, pictures were placed in a digital folder for them to be easily seen, and important documents were placed in a folder to be easily accessed and referred to whenever it is in need. of the American regime, Lope
K. Santos, an authority on Tagalog
language and member of the
geographic committee created
to “investigate and revise” the names of Philippine towns and provinces recommended the change of “Marigundong” to “Maragondon”, definitely more pleasing to hear, the present name of the town. Incidentally, Maragondon has three foundation dates: namely, 1) 1644 when the Franciscan Fathers from Silang established their first visita or chapel; 2) 1690, the “Fundacion Ecclesiastica” nor founding of the regular parish by the Jesuits dedicating it to Our Lady of the Assumption; and 3) 1727, the “Fundacion Civil”, when the original barrio of Maragondon was separated from Silang during the administration of the Recollects and converted into an independent municipality with Gregorio Silvestre as the first “gobernadorcillo”. http://220.127.116.11/CaviteNSHS2/index2.htm http://deped.gov.ph/ http://www.smart.com.ph/ http://smartschools.ph/ http://mapwiki.nokia.com/ http://doonposaamin.ph/ http://www.maragondon.gov.ph/ The only problem is, as time passes by, people are slowly forgetting about him and what he did for the success of Maragondon. That's why we have provided this blog, in order for people not to totally forget about the Barakong Mayor. And we hope that someday, someone will retrace Mayor Gulapa's footsteps and follow his great example. The book "The History and Cultural Life of Cavite Province", had a list of the Mayors of Maragondon, Cavite. However, the name of Mayor Gulapa is nowhere to be found.
