Historic Harmony,Harmony PA

Historical Harmony's marriage was different from other places. Because of their religious beliefs from 1807-1817 there was no marriages. Common law marriage stopped in 2005. People who were married were allowed to stay together but they had to live as brothers and sisters. People who weren't married were encouraged to stay that way.
Historic harmony's medical guidelines were also very different. The information i was looking at did not really explain anything medicine. I think whatever medicine they used was they made because they are agriculture people. They didn't have medication like we do now.
One of their family guidelines is that each family owns a quarter acre. Four to six people we assigned to a home, though they were not related at all. United Society of believes in Christ’s second appearing is called a shaker; they lived in “Holy Families.” The shakers left their families and moved in with their “Holy Families”, and only learned about god. Their education is unbelievable to understand.
There was only one school, which is very small, because when they grow up they will be farmers and agriculture people, they believed education wasn’t important. They did think reading, writing, and math were very important. Girls received classroom instructions on the summer and boys in the winter. No child was turned away.
Men formed and women cleaned. The men farmers were very industrial and had many machines to make themselves successful. They also had many factories, the women did all the cooking and cleaning.
Historic Harmony, Harmony PA didn't really have a government, but their religious view did interact with how they are living. The harmonies did not hold elections to vote. Instead, elders were assigned to specific parts of the society.
One of the rules in Historic Harmony is that they have a schedule that started at waking up between 5 and 6 a.m. and had a curfew at 9 p.m. On Sunday there was no work because it was a “Holy Day.” The Historic Harmony Society had no written laws they were all memorized.
One thing or interesting thing about Harmony , Harmony PA. Is that they believed in God just like we do. They believed marriage was a sign of spiritual weakness. Im not quit sure why they would think that though but they also believed that Jesus Christ was coming to earth in their lifetime to peace earth and to put peace to a lot of things to when he would come to earth.
