A chakra is an energy centre in your body. The main chakras are associated with glands of the endocrine system of the human body, and lie along the spine.
Blocked energy in our 7 Chakras can often lead to illness, and there’s many different ways to balance them.
Each one of the seven chakras is a given colour and a corresponding crystal. The chakras also correlate to the zodiac signs, elements, sounds, animals, planets and a yoga path. In Tibetan Buddhism they play a pivotal role in completion stage practices, where an attempt is made to bring the subtle winds of the body into the central channel, to realize the clear light of bliss and emptiness, and to attain Buddha hood.

Yoga opens chakras and evokes positive qualities associated with a particular chakra.

Meditation is used to balance the chakras Meditation is a practice in which an individual trains the mind or induces a mode of consciousness, either to realize some benefit or as an end in itself.

"Centering" and "grounding" techniques should be used before beginning these meditations. A grounding technique can be as simple as feeling your connection to the earth and visualizing a root growing from your body into the earth and being focused and present.

These chakra meditations use mudras, which are special hand positions, to open chakras. The mudras have the power to send more energy to particular chakras. To enhance the effect, sounds are chanted. These sounds are from Sanskrit letters. According to the ancients, there are certain vibrations, sounds, that correlate to the different color vibrations of the chakras. The Hindu call them bija or seed sounds. According to Hindu tradition, all of the fifty sounds within the Sanskrit language are contained within the chakras.
When chanted, they cause a resonation in your body that you can feel at the chakra they are meant for.For pronunciation, keep in mind that:
the "A" is pronounced as in "ah,"
the "M" is pronounced as "mng" ("ng" like in "king"). The practitioner places crystals on different parts of the body, often corresponding to chakras, or places crystals around the body in an attempt to construct an "energy grid", which is purported to surround the client with healing energy. According to Hindu literature chakra are nexus points of energy or emanations sent from Brahman. It is believed that this Shakti passes through the third eye on the forehead to lodge in the Sahasrara chakra in the crown of the head. As the Shakti passes down from one chakra point to another it enervates the body and soul, becoming a less spiritual and more physical thing as it does so. This concrete or solid Shakti is then stored in the Muladhara chakra in the base of the spine. By perfecting the forms taught in this series of exercises one may attain a greater consciousness thanks to the blessing of Brahman as well as to unleash the Kundalini coiled and dormant at the base of the spine since the beginning of time. When this happens the Kundalini passes back up through the chakra in reverse order until union with God is achieved when it reaches the Sahasrara.

It is believed that this energy at the base of the spine, which is called Kundalini, accumulates from one incarnation to the next and grants its possessor a great deal of power should it be unlocked. From this belief springs the Tantric and Kundalini forms of yoga. The Buddha Nature Chart is the blueprint of your true identity. The upper figure is your Divine Presence, known as the I AM THAT I AM. Surrounding it is your Causal Body—glorious rainbow-colored spheres composed of primordial substance co-mingled with virtuous momentums of energy accrued over many lifetimes.
The middle figure is the mediator, the teacher, the one who communicates the holiness and love-wisdom of God to your soul, exemplified in great masters such as Gautama Buddha, Kuan Yin, Confucius, Krishna and Jesus.
The lower figure represents the evolving soul personality bathed in violet light, the seventh-ray action of transmutation and spiritual alchemy. The white ray of light, known as the crystal cord or silver cord, descending from your Divine Presence through the mediator and anchored in the threefold flame within your heart, connects you with your Divine Source.
The cylinder of shimmering pure radiance descending from your Presence and surrounding the lower figures is called the crystal-diamond tube of light, which you can invoke daily for your protection and empowerment. Origin The earliest mention of Chakras appears to come from the Vedas that form the Hindu scriptures.
While breath channels (nāḍis) of yogic practices had already been discussed in the classical Upanishads, it was not until the eighth-century Buddhist Hevajra Tantra and Caryāgiti, that hierarchy of chakras were introduced.
