Transcript of Global Warming
Recycling paper, plastic, and cans is something simple but effective. Recycling gives companies a chance to reuse cans so they don't have to make more, and you can get money for cans too!
Cutting down electronic use (unplugging chargers, game systems, turning off lights, etc.) helps a lot. This will help the production of coal and fossil fuels go down.
What causes Global Warming?
Global Warming is too much carbon dioxide in the air. It acts as a blanket and traps heat, thus warming the planet.
Burning fossil fuels (coal, oil, natural gases, cutting trees, etc.)
Certain waste management (littering, dumping chemicals in lakes, etc.)
How could Global Warming affect the world in the future?
Heat Waves is one major long term effect. One in Europe in 2003 killed an estimated 35,000 people. Heat Waves are now two to four times more likely to happen.
Destroying ecosystems is another very important effect to think about. Coral reefs are bleaching and dying because of warm oceans.
What is being done to get rid of Global Warming?
Electric cars are becoming more popular. They are charged, run on batteries, and do not use gas, reducing human's 'carbon footprint'.
'Green' products are also becoming more popular. These products are not made with harsh chemicals, helping reduce pollution and helping create healthy families.
What laws were created to help put a stop to Global Warming?
Factories can only burn so many fossil fuels, if they exceed that limit they are loaded with fines.
There are forest preserves, places where it is illegal to kill animals or cut trees down. Piltcher Park is a googd example in our community.
What is Global Warming? How do we know its real?
A slow increase in the overall temperature of Earth's atmosphere.
There are ice caps in Antarctica that are melting.
Antarctica accounts for 90% of Earth's water. If all of the ice caps there melt, sea levels would rise about 200 feet.
