Images from Shutterstock.com What are Natural Resources? Natural Resources are materials or substances such as minerals, forests, water, and fertile land that occur in nature and can be used for economic gain. Why do we need them? We need them because our economy and our lives depend on them. Without using our natural resources we would not be able to thrive, or even live on this planet. Think about this, without fertile soil we wouldn't be able to grow anything, and our crops would not be able to survive, no plants would be able to survive. How can we use our natural resources wisely? By Cade and Texas Tim -Soil
-Natural Gases
-Fossil Fuels What are some different types
of Natural Resources? Soil Healthy soil supports both agriculture and forestry. The mineral and nutrient rich portion of soil is called topsoil. Topsoil is rich in organic matter and nutrients. Topsoil can be a renewable resource if it is manage properly........ However.... Healthy soil can take centuries to form but can be lost very quickly.
We can manage this resource by rotating the crops and using farming techniques to` not allow erosion in the soil and so it does not become unfertile. We can also stop producing crops on highly erodible farmland. The most significant use of water is to produce
hydro power by harnessing its energy. Compared to other resources that are used to produce energy and power, water is considered renewable as well as having the least solid waste during energy production. Oil Oil is one of our major sources of energy. With oil there is fuel made to run buses, cars, airplanes, and to heat our homes. How can we use it wisely? We can use it wisely by having people take public transit, carpool, or use high gas mileage cars. That concludes our presentation! Thank you for your participation!
