The Call to Discipleship
In your notebooks, please answer the following:

What does it mean to be a disciple of Christ?

Is there anyone you know who does this well?

How can you tell?
To follow Christ is no easy task. Discipleship demands the following from us:
1. A disciple must put personal desires aside to follow the will of God
2. A disciple must accept suffering - even to the point of death
3. A disciple must serve others
4. A disciple must love others, even those who are enemies
So, what is a disciple?
Pupil:
a disciple is a pupil of Jesus because he or she is called to learn from Jesus by thinking about, analyzing and applying His teachings to life
Recall, the followers of Jesus called Him, "Rabbi"
Friend:
those who follow Jesus are called to a personal relationship with Him
it is marked by intimacy, generosity, availability, sacrifice, concern and mutual love

Evangelist
those who follow Jesus are called spread His message to the world in both word and deed.
Read: 1 Peter 3:15
What is the man really asking from Jesus?
You shall love the Lord with all your heart, with all your might and with all your soul

You are your groups will be looking at the 10 Commandments. If we are to be Disciples of Christ who live virtuously and proclaim the Good News that Jesus has risen as He said - fulfilling the promises and covenants that God has made with us - we must live by the Commandments
To begin, on the next slide you will find extremely rare footage of Moses actually receiving the 10 Commandments...
The next few slides will contain prompts that correspond to each Commandment.
