The Right: Section 7 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms states "
everyone has the right to
life
liberty; and
security of the person
"
The Responsibility: Section 7 continues to say, "...
and the right not to be deprived thereof except in accordance with
the principles of
fundamental
justice
.
This means:
follow the law
you may do
anything, as long
as the law (and
who maintains it)
find it okay
The Right:
to move about freely regarding to Canada
moving in
(becoming a citizen)
moving around
(traveling to different provinces and territories)
leaving
(to move to a different country)

The Responsibility: The right to
apply for a Canadian passport
if you decide to become a citizen

vote in municipal, provincial, and federal elections.
vote for any candidate
you think will be a suitable leader for you
if candidates do not suit your needs, you may
run for office as a candidate

participate in the democratic process

must vote
during municipal, provincial, and federal elections
if you do not wish to vote, you
can

participate as a candidate
you may also volunteer at election polls during elections

As A Canadian Citizen
The Right:
freedom to speak up without any punishment
not limited to speaking. You are
able and free to speak your opinions through other methods
(eg., through art forms such as sculpture and graphic art designs)
acting on, receiving, and thinking about the opinions of others

The Responsibility:
respect what other people have to say
no violent protest
against other peoples' beliefs
be respectful of others
' points of view
be open to new ideas
from others
keep in mind the differences
such
as their cultures, religions, etc., that
others may be part of
The Right: These rights are
given to
everyone
, citizen or not. Rights
include:
freedom of beliefs and religion

freedom of speech, and opinion
freedom of joining and/or leaving
any groups you want
fighting for other rights peacefully

The Responsibility:
To respect and
accept others
and their freedoms, beliefs, groups,religions, and their cause (what they feel is appropriate to fight for.)
