PH Level on the Nisqually River By Shawn Bucknell Background Information Ph is the acidity of water. It is measured on a scale of 0 to 14 7 is optimal Why is Ph important? If Ph declines below 6.5, fewer salmon eggs hatch and aquatic insect levels drop. Investigative Question Does the season in which Ph is tested increase Ph levels? Hypothesis If the season is winter than thePh level will increase because there will be more rain more waste will wash into the river. Materials PH testing kit
Master data sheet
pencil Procedures Add 6 drops of indicator solution to each tube
Wait 2 minutes Turn color wheel until colors match
Record PH level Repeat this process twice more
Record results Fill one tube with river water
Fill second tube with fresh water PH Levels My Hypothesis is incorrect. If the season is fall, then the Ph level will increase. When the season is fall the PH level is 7.5. When the season is winter the PH level is 6. So the PH level dropped 1.5. This does not support my hypothesis. Any Questions?
