Hijab,an act of
Modesty
What is modesty?
Modesty: Having or showing a moderate or humble estimate of one's merits, importance, etc.; free from vanity, egotism, boastfulness, or great pretensions.
The Islamic definition
Haya
In English, Haya may be translated to modesty, shyness, self-respect, bashfulness, shame, honour, humility, etc.
''.....if a woman does not have her head veiled,she may as well have her hair cut off.But if it is shameful for a woman to have her hair cut off,then she should wear a viel,''I CORINTHIANS 11:6''
In the following verse,the BIBLE gives the woman the choice of wearing the veil or shaving her hair!

Hijab in Ancient Religions
We also learn from the Qura'n where Allah says : ''O Prophet! Say to your wives and your daughters and the women of the faithful to draw their outergarments (jilbabs) close around themselves; that is better that they will be recognized and not annoyed. And God is ever Forgiving, Gentle.''


Types of Hijab
They're proper and improper hijab
The
Proper
Hijab Is when you wear a Hijab with loose clothing nothing showing except your face and hands. With proper Hijab you my not wear make-up.

Improper
Hijab are:
Convertible Hijab
: The scarf shows half of the hair and her sleeves go up.
Make-up Hijab
: She wears the Hijab but she also put on a lot of make-up.
Pop-corn Hijab:
She wears proper or improper Hijab but she behaves in an improper manner.
Tight Hijab:
She wears a scarf but her clothes are very tight showing her shape.
Does practicing Hijab Has any Benefit??
Ofcourse It has!

Parts of the body that are not supposed to be exposed to others, but this is not to be confused with the english meaning 'private parts', because a woman's legs, for example, is an awrah.

Our Environment can be such a major influence on us.The society we live in influences the way we live.The western societies are very effective at promoting certain lifestyles that unfortunately do not fit with the principles of islam.
Dressing a certain way can become a habit that is difficult to break.
Therefore to all these problems,the Best Solution is ->

Muslim Boys should also dress up in decent manner and Lower their Gaze.
They should respect and support their muslim sisters.

Men should also cover their junk in private.
Make sure you spend time with sisters who observe hijab.They will be wonderful source of encouragement to you.

Indeed,Maryam,the mother of Prophet Isa(a.s) also wore veil.We can also see that there are several reference about practices of the veil in new testaments and old testament.
Hijab which is also known as the Veil.It is an act of modesty.
Why Hijab??
The answer to this is because Allah wants Muslim women to Hijab because it is better for them and society as a whole.

One may ask why a muslim girl should wear the hijab.Why should she go through the inconvenience of putting hijab whenever she goes out or a male relative(non mahram),friend,or neighbour comes to visit?
Haya or modesty is also considered to be another name of Hijab..
Hijab was also a part of everyday dress for women in ancient christian and jewish communities.It is still observed today within some of these communities and catholic nuns.
42% of women in the U.Smilitary are sexually assaulted.A woman is raped every 6minutes.
Three out of four men will be victims of violent crimes.And one out of 5 will be raped in their lifetime.
Thirteen year old rapists are not uncommon,neither are 8years old victims.[N.Y Times 13 june,89]
