Transcript of Teen wolf

Derek Hale, portrayed by Tyler Hoechlin, is a werewolf by genetic lycanthropy, passed down through his family line. He is one of three survivors of the fire that burned down his family's home (the other two being his older sister, Laura Hale, and his uncle, Peter Hale). In the season 1 finale, Derek becomes the new Alpha werewolf after killing his uncle, the previous Alpha, to avenge Laura's death.

Despite his competitive and cold nature, Derek genuinely cares for Scott and his friends, and always tries to keep them out of danger's way. He strongly disapproves of Scott's relationship with Allison, due to the fact that she's a hunter. He shares a love-hate relationship with Scott's best friend, Stiles, and an antagonistic one with the Argents, moreso because Kate Argent started the fire that killed the Hale family. As the new Alpha, Derek assembles himself a pack, consisting of three students from Beacon Hills High who all have dark backgrounds, just as he does. He wishes to make his pack his family, being their mentor and having them trust him.

It is stated that Derek was born on November 7. He enjoys soft jazz and musical groups such as Dead Man's Bones, Kids of 88 and Young The Giant. His favorite song performed by this group is "My Body". He is a master of all sports but his passion is baseball. Creator and producer Jeff Davis released a statement on Twitter insinuating that Derek is older than the audience thinks, and more will be revealed about him in season 3, premiering in 2013.
Peter Hale, portrayed by Ian Bohen, is Derek's uncle and was the main antagonist in the first season. Prior to the series, he was badly burned on the right side of his face and was assumed to be paralyzed. He was the Alpha who bit and turned Scott McCall into a werewolf. Peter bit Lydia at the end of season 1, though she survived, due to being immune. He also murdered Kate Argent after revealing that it was she who had murdered the Hale family. He was burned alive by Scott, Allison, Stiles, and Jackson, while Derek slashed his throat to avenge his sister Laura's death and become the new Alpha.

In season 2, Peter shockingly returns by using Lydia's immunity as a weapon to come back to life. Fully resurrected, though still physically weak, Peter offers help to Derek, gaining his trust by explaining that he knows how to save Jackson. In the season 2 finale, he helps Derek, Scott and Isaac with what to do about Jackson, and later reveals to Derek and Isaac that an Alpha pack, consisting of only Alpha werewolves, has come to Beacon Hills, indicating new danger. Peter's actual motives for returning are yet to be revealed in season 3, premiering in 2013.
Kate Argent, portrayed by Jill Wagner, was Chris' sister and Allison's aunt, and the secondary antagonist in the first season. Kate was also a hunter, and more bloodthirsty than her brother. She appeared to be the cruelest of the hunters, like her father, Gerard, taking great pleasure in hurting any werewolf she could - even going so far as to set fire to the Hale family house, murdering all the members, which included humans and children. Kate was involved in a relationship with Derek Hale, only to betray him and murder his family. She was close to Allison, to whom she revealed the family secret. She was eventually killed by Peter Hale as revenge for murdering the Hale family.
Scott attends Beacon Hills High School in Beacon Hills, California, where he plays lacrosse. His parents are divorced and he lives with his mother, Melissa, who works as a nurse at the Beacon Hills Hospital.

Scott has an after school job at the Beacon Hills Animal Clinic as an assistant to Dr. Deaton.

While wandering in the woods he was bitten by Alpha werewolf Peter Hale and cursed with lycanthropy. Before Scott was bitten he was an outcast at school and a bench warmer for the lacrosse team. He had asthma and was required to use an inhaler.

He is now Co-Captain of the Beacon Hills High School Lacrosse team with Jackson Whittemore. According to the coach Bobby Finstock, he is the best player on the lacrosse team.

Scott believes his new life as a werewolf is more of a curse than a gift. He occasionally becomes frustrated when his werewolf instincts get in the way of his normal life and his relationship with Allison Argent.

Scott possesses all the physical and psychological characteristics of a Beta Werewolf.

Biography

Peter Hale was born a werewolf and was with his extended family when the Hale House was attacked by arsonists.

He was the only known survivor of the fire and was left comatose and badly scarred in a long term care facility in Beacon Hills.

His werewolf nature allowed him to heal completely, albeit slowly, over the intervening years. He then tricked his niece, Laura Hale, into returning to town and killed her so that he could become an Alpha werewolf and seek revenge on those who he blamed for the fire that killed his family.

His single minded efforts to kill the guilty led to his death at the hands of his nephew, Derek Hale

Very intelligent and calculating, Peter had a backup plan. Just before his death he somehow infected Lydia Martin with a portion of his spirit through which he was able to give her instructions on how to fully revive his corpse.

Werewolves are a supernatural species of half-wolves. They are the main protagonists within the world of Teen Wolf.

They usually appear in human form, but can shift to a certain degree into a wolf. Even in human form they possess supernatural abilities and powers.

Inexperienced werewolves are at the mercy of the full moon. Under its sway, they lose control and their homicidal tendencies increase.

Psychological Characteristics

Observed psychological characteristics of the werewolves of Teen Wolf include:
■ Increased risk taking
■ Aberrant social behavior
■ Homicidal tendencies
■ Increased sexual desire
■ Rebelliousness and distrust of authority
■ Animal-like mannerisms such as growling

These behaviors intensify on the days preceding the full moon.

Physiological Observations
■The transformation into a werewolf can cure chronic illnesses like asthma and epilepsy.
■The werewolves eyes glow in all images and video. (See Eye Color below)
■Werewolves do not heal as quickly from bites or scratches from Alpha werewolves.

Types of Werewolves

There are three known types of werewolves in the Teen Wolf mythology, Alphas, Betas and Omegas.

Alpha

An Alpha is the leader of a pack of werewolves. It is the strongest, most powerful and so far the most lethal variety of Werewolf.

An Alpha is the type of werewolf that bit Scott.

Laura Hale was an Alpha and appeared to be completely wolf-like when transformed. Peter Hale was more beast-like when transformed. Like a wolf, he ran on all fours but unlike the animal Peter had glowing red eyes, a short snout and larger teeth.

It is stated by Derek that alphas become stronger if they are part of a pack.

Peter Hale says he's “become an Alpha” by “taking that” from his niece Laura.

To become an Alpha, a Beta wolf can kill an Alpha. In Code Breaker, Derek kills his uncle and becomes the next Alpha.

Also the show hints that there is a natural line of succession within packs. When Laura's family is killed, and her uncle incapacitated, she assumed the role of Alpha within the Hale Pack.

Beta

Scott was a Beta throughout Season 1.

Betas can be born like Derek or made with a bite from an Alpha as was the case with Scott.

Beta transformations are less complete than the Alphas in that they retain a mostly human appearance but grow fangs, claws, and fur. We have seen involuntary Beta transformations triggered by strong emotions. Pain can reverse the transformation.

Bitten Betas (as opposed to born werewolves) have a mental link with their creators and can be “called” against their will.

During the episode Night School the Alpha seemed to force a Beta (Scott) to transform. It is unclear if this was a previously unknown power of the Alpha over their progeny or simply a result of the Beta subject's heightened emotions.

Derek states in Lunatic that a bitten werewolf can reverse their lycanthropy if it kills its sire but admits this is hearsay and he doesn't know if it is true.

Omega

The third type of werewolf is the Omega.[1]

The designation "Omega" within the world of Teen Wolf simply means that it is a "lone wolf" without a pack. Since being with a pack makes werewolves physically stronger, Omegas are not as powerful as their peers within packs.

In the web series Teen Wolf: Search for a Cure, Conrad Fenris describes the Omegas as the “lowest of the wolves...”.

The first episode of Season 2 is titled Omega. Teen Wolf Creator Jeff Davis says the title represents Scott's state of mind during this season. If he chooses not to join Derek's new pack he will be the lone wolf, the Omega.

Powers and Abilities
■ Enhanced Strength: Werewolves are much stronger than humans.
■ Enhanced Speed: Werewolves are much faster than humans.
■ Enhanced Agility: Werewolves can jump, run, climb and react faster than humans.
■ Accelerated Healing: Werewolves heal quickly from most injuries.
■ Heightened Senses: Werewolves can smell, see and hear far better than humans.
■ Pain Transference: Werewolves can absorb and alleviate pain from other people/creatures.
■ Memory Transference: Werewolves transfer memories by inserting claws into nape of an individual's neck.

Eye Color

An Alpha Werewolf's eyes glow red.

Excluding red, the eye glow variations are unlimited for Betas and Omegas and do not follow any set pattern or rule.

Blue, yellow and orange eyes are the variations seen to date.

When asked what the variations mean Jeff Davis said "We're keeping it mysterious for now. But I think of it like each Jedi has their own color lightsaber."

Packs

The werewolf pack hierarchy is made up of one alpha (male or female). Next in line are the betas.

The alpha is the only one who leads and makes all the decisions that the entire pack follows.

Werewolves become physically stronger and more powerful once they join a pack. This is stated several times during Season 1 and is the overriding theme of Season 2.

An Alpha needs three Betas to form a basic pack.

Pack membership is voluntary but failing to join leaves the werewolf weaker (see Omega above) and vulnerable to attack.

Alpha Pack

Apparently it is possible to have an entire pack of Alpha werewolves. The dynamics of how such a pack forms or operates is unclear.

Known Werewolves
■ Scott McCall, bitten by Peter Hale (Beta)
■ Isaac Lahey, bitten by Derek (Beta)
■ Erica, bitten by Derek (Beta)
■ Boyd, bitten by Derek (Beta)
■ Derek Hale, born werewolf (Beta to Alpha)
■ Laura Hale, born werewolf (Beta to Alpha; Deceased)
■ Peter Hale, born werewolf (Beta to Alpha to Deceased to ?)
■ Jackson Whittemore, bitten by Derek (Beta)

Weakness
Wolfsbanederek is shot with wolfsbane
Added by Paul.rea
So far the Observed Effects of Wolfsbane include the power to hold an Alpha, Laura Hale, in full wolf form after death. It made Scott short of breath and seemingly caused a partial transformation. A wolfsbane tipped bullet poisoned and almost killed Derek. Mountain Ash Exhibits control over werewolves and other supernatural creatures. Dr. Deaton says it keeps folks like Derek from causing trouble.
