Natural Selection and Adaptations To live, animals must have the ability to get food and water and survive their predators
If they are not able to do this they will die.
If the animals die, they are not able to reproduce, therefore, the traits that make the animal unique from its species are lost.
The animal that has the traits that give it the ability to survive survives, and passes on its traits to its offspring and so on.
Because of this, the traits that help the animal survive are the traits that eventually make up the species
Adaptations (things that make the animal different from the species) are formed and are passed down to their offspring when they survive
