The effects of stress in the work place Up to 85 percent of all medical problems are caused by stress According to Connie Tyne, executive director for the Cooper Wellness Program in Dallas, stress-related diseases will kill 52 percent of American executives. Researchers at the American Institute of Stress estimate that issues stemming from workplace stress take up at least 20 percent of a company's payroll, and over $150 billion in U.S. productivity each year. Sixty percent of lost workdays each year can be attributed to stress.
In addition, an estimated 75 to 90 percent of visits to health care providers are due to stress-related conditions, costing employers in increased health care costs. 75% of adults reported experiencing moderate to high levels of stress in the past month and nearly half reported that their stress has increased in the past year Source - American Psychological Association Continued... 80% of workers feel stress on the job and nearly half say they need help in learning how to manage stress. And 42% say their co-workers need such help Source– American Institute of Stress. According to figures released recently from the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence their research findings found that 13.7 million working days are lost each year as a result of work-related illness.
