Sloths are the world's slowest
mammals. They can be identified by the number of claws on the front foot. They are also built for climbing in the treetops. On land, they are very vulnerable. Sloths are also very good swimmers because of their long front legs.

Sloths are very good climbers.
They have a powerful grip because
of their long, prominent claws. Sloths also sleep 15 to 20 hours per day. They eat at night, which is when they
eat leaves, shoots, and fruit and get most of their water from juicy plants.
Sloths cannot crawl on land as
their weak hind legs are a hindrance. They have to use their front claws to dig into the ground and slowly drag themselves along. When predators attack, they have to defend by clawing and biting.

The pattern on the spider's back looks like a smiling face. This pattern is unique because it might be used to warn predators of the spider.
"Some scientists think the spider may have developed these
strange markings
as a way to warn predators, such as birds."
A few scientists think that the markings are used to warn predators. Others think the markings do nothing. "Some scientists think the spider may have developed these strange markings as a way to warn predators, such as birds. However, not all scientists agree on this theory. Some believe the features may do nothing to help the spider avoid its enemies."
Living on the undersides of leaves helps the spider stay out of the limelight by making it hard to find. "It lives its life on the under sides of leaves, deep in the rainforest. This can make it difficult for scientists to locate and study."
