thank you for visiting
Here's a snapshot of work while at Southern Polytechnic State University
this first example of work highlights my interest in urban housing. while at first it may seem like a single family house, the goal of this studio was to design 'plex' housing, i.e. duplex, triplex, etc. this solution applies a manifestation of courtyard housing principals to create a layout for modern families. the need for both private retreat and public engagement is a reality in the limited space of urban living
the second project was designed in a high-rise studio. objectives of this design problem were to understand the complexities of tall buildings including relationships to site and to the region (urban fabric), spatial considerations, programmatic organization, and mixed-uses. space, as a concept, is explored and composed as a unique arrangement of volumes respective of their use.
Now on to professional examples of my work.
from 2004 to 2009, i worked on these urban housing projects and condo highrises. these mixed+use buildings have ground floor retail and some have office space as well. the first project is office and retail
seneca high school
from 2009 till present, i have been a project architect and project manager on k-12 facilities. education is undergoing a transformation in teaching methods (such as 'stem') and is driving major programmatic change. As this is occuring, many school districts are developing new schools that are leed certified. all of this is challenging the architect to respond to the many evolutions in the design requirements and create new and innovative learning environments.

I joined this team later in the project where I worked to finalize the documents and then handled many of the construction administration duties.
i will be adding my thesis project and a couple other professional projects shortly
as an intern at Warner Summers, i developed this mixed-use design with retail and office space in our scope and adjacent townhomes by another firm that created a live-work environment. 3d rendering by others

easley middle school
originally built in 1939 as a high school, this was the back of the school; however, due to the removal of the main road in front years ago, the school district wanted to move the front door to the more visible side. this is one of four buildings on the campus and is sized for 1,400 students

located in the foothills of easley, south carolina, gettys middle school will undergo an interior transformation and exterior modernization
to effectively utilize the existing buildings for another 50 years, creating a school programmed for the specific academic needs while updating the materials, lighting, thermal comfort, and community connectivity.
maximizing the impact of the available budget meant getting the extra mile out of each design decision. one example was the use of a new elevator tower providing accessibility to the second floor as the main design element of the new front entry. the tower is meant to provide a visual connection to the main highway.
