Transcript of Planets

Mercury earth Mercury is the closest planet to the sun,and it has no moons. The surface of Mercury is rocky and cratered. You can only see Mercury near sunrise or sunset. Mercury is a battered and baked planet just larger than Earth's moon. Venus is the second closest planet to the sun. Venus has no moons and it is the hotest planet in the solar system. Another name for Venus is the "morning star". Venus is the brightest planet. Earth has one moon and is the fifth largest planet in the solar system. The Earths composition is 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, and 1% other gasses. The Earth is 149,600,000 km from the sun. People can live on this planet. Mars has two moons and the surface of Mars is dry and rocky. Mars is called the red planet because of its red surface. The most common gas on Mars is carbon dioxide. The Sun is one out of billions of stars. The Sun is the closest star to Earth. The Sun rotates once every 27 days. The Sun is now a middle-aged star, meaning it is at about the middle of its life. The Sun formed over four and a half billion years ago. You may think the Sun will die soon, but it will keep shining for at least another five billion years. Jupiter is the fifth planet from the sun, and is the largest planet in the solar system. Jupiter is a gas giant, and Jupiter has a ring. Saturn is the sixth planet from the sun,and the second biggest planet in the solar system. Saturn has beautiful rings made of mostly ice. It takes about 29.46 Earth years for Saturn to orbit around our sun Uranus is the seventh planet from the sun, and is a huge icy planet covered with clouds. Uranus has 11 rings 22 unknown moons.Uranus has 27 known satellites. Neptune is the eighth planet from the sun, and is is orbited by eight moons. This giant, frigid gas planet has a hazy atmosphere and strong winds.Neptune once had a great dark spot similar to Jupiter.

Pluto is a dwarf planet, it was dicoverd in 1930. The gravity on Pluto is only 8% of the gravity on Earth. SOLAR SYSTEM Mars has the largest canyon in the solar system. Jupiter takes about 12 years to orbit the sun and rotates in about 10 hours. The color of

Pluto is reddish-brown. Pluto is smaller than the Earth's

moon.
