Song: "Stronger" By Kelly Clarkson
Novel: "I Am malala" by malala yousafzai
I chose this song, "Stronger," by Kelly Clarkson, because it has
a fast and upbeat rhythm. In addition, this song has an important theme, which
closely relates to the theme of the novel, "I Am Malala." The theme of both the texts is:
stand up for your rights. In the song, Kelly Clarkson conveys to the reader to move on and to not worry about the past. She also tells the reader to fight for what they deserve and to not let others take away enjoyment from one's life. In addition, her past experience only made her more capable to handle hard times. Similarly, the novel, "I Am Malala," conveys the same message. In this novel, Malala grew up in a hostile and prejudice society. Women were treated poorly and often as slaves for men. The Taliban, a terrorist group, ruled her area and made life harsh for every civilian. Many women agreed to whatever the Taliban were saying - even if it meant banning their education. However, Malala protested for her rights and eventually made a difference for every girl in her
society. She challenged the Taliban rule by giving interviews and informing the world about the
situation her country were facing. Hence, these two texts relate because both convey to the
reader to never give up and believe in what one can do. Ultimately, the song, "Stronger" by
Kelly Clarkson, and "I Am Malala" by Malala Yousafzai share the
same theme.
