We've taken time out for family Whether young ...or old On the surface We've partnered with others in our community to make an impact in East Tennessee And our community has given back to The Y Leaders Club, Davis Y We've trained a staff team that is committed to our members, our mission, and our community. YMCA of East Tennessee 2012: Year In Review we may look like a gym But take a closer look and let us show you what we did in 2012 4,663 seniors gathered at the Y for group exercise classes, a hot cup of coffee, or conversation and community 925 East Tennesseans were trained by Y aquatics staff in American Red Cross CPR, First Aid, or Lifeguarding, making our community safer. 875 kids found enrichment and acceptance through safe, affordable summer day camp with the Y. From North Knoxville to West Knoxville, 7,776 kids took swim lessons in Y pools. 1,343 families received financial assistance through our Change A Life campaign The Y reminds us to laugh to push
ourselves to tackle a challenge to rebuild to explore our world to take care of our health to shake it to teach future generations to play to play hard to give back Time for friends Time for our neighbors Time for ourselves Hundreds of swim team parents volunteer, North Side & West Side Y Morgan and Day families, regular volunteer "chefs," Davis Y "Ricky Bob" gives out sparklers, North Side Y Community Health Fair, Downtown Y Vicki Ursitti, volunteer turned staff
West Side Y Carl Schepens, Davis Y volunteer 30 of our 33 full-time employees have their Team Leader Certification or higher 25 of them have been here 10 years or longer Robert Cooley, AYP Chapter 26 Rookie of the Year Rebekah McElhannon, selected for Inaugural YMCA Leadership Symposium in Claremont, California Project Management Class, Regional Training Vickey Beard receives Pioneering Healthy Communities grant check Jim Dickson and Lori Humphreys, Community Schools Conference We're proud of all that we have accomplished in 2012 But we know there's much more to tackle in 2013. We're ready for the challenge.
