"Love the way you lie" by Eminem ft. Rihanna
Later on in life, Eminem got married to a woman named Kim. His marriage turned into an abusive relationship.

After they broke up, Eminem wrote a song titled "Kim", which tells a story of himself killing Kim

While preforming this song on stage, Eminem had a blow up doll, representing Kim, which he beat up.

Eminem's actions lead to Kim's attempts at suicide.
Domestic violence is the single greatest cause of harm to women.

A woman is beaten every 9 seconds in the US.

4,744,000 Women experience physical violence by their partners each year in the US.

Any abusive, violent, forceful, or threatening act or word inflicted by one member of a family on another.
Domestic Violence:
Eminem grew up in an abusive household.

His mother was unemployed and physically/emotionally abusive. Also a drug addict

His father left him before he got to know him.
Domestic violence is a huge issue in society.
Many abusive relationships appear to be normal from an outside perspective, making them hard to be spotted.

Because abusive relationships are not easily identified, domestic violence has received less attention then it should get.

A lot of times friends and family may know of abusive relationships, but don't understand why they cant leave the relationship.

People try to bring awareness to the domestic violence through books, videos, songs, etc.


Often times abusive relationships are hard to identify.

He abused Rihanna's mother, and even hit Rihanna herself.

One night they went out, and afterward, Rihanna caught Chris in a lie that he wouldn't own up to

Chris got fed up and shoved Rihanna, and punched her several times. He then threatened to kill her.

Children who’ve experienced domestic violence often meet the criteria for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and the effects on their brain are similarly to those experienced by war veterans

Shows how the Perpetrator of the abuse tries to leave his actions behind, and act like nothing has happened
Illustrates the ups and downs of an abusive relationship, and how there is actual love in an abusive relationship.


Perpetrator relates their self to "Superman" when they are treating their partner with love and compassion, when people should do that all the time.
