INTRODUCTION TO IT Communication device- requires a sender, a message and a recipient, although the receiver need not be present or aware of the sender’s intent to communicate at the time of communication. Is an activity of conveying information through the exchange of thoughts, messages or information as by speech, visual, signals, writing or behaviour.

A hardware description language is any language from a class of computer language, specification language for formal description and design of electronics circuits, and most commonly, digital logic. It can describe the circuit’s operation, its design and organization, and test to verify its operation by means simulation. OUTPUT - is any place of computer hardware equipment used to communicate the result of data processing carried out by an information processing system w/c converts the electronically generated information into human-readable form. Ex. Monitor, printer, speakers.

Software refers to one or more computer programs and data held in the storage of the computer Software SOFTWARE – the set of instructions that your hardware executes to carry out a specific task for you Software includes all the various forms and roles that digitally stored data may have and play in a computer (or similar system), regardless of whether the data is used as code for a CPU, or other interpreter, or whether it represents other kinds of information. Types of Software System software – handles tasks specific to technology management and coordinates the interaction of all technology devices System software is responsible for managing a variety of independent hardware components, so that they can work together harmoniously. Its purpose is to unburden the application software programmer from the often complex details of the particular computer being used, including such accessories as communications devices, printers, device readers, displays and keyboards, and also to partition the computer's resources such as memory and processor time in a safe and stable manner. 1.) Operating system software : controls your application software and manages how your hardware devices work together Application software is developed to perform in any task that benefits from computation. It is a set of programs that allows the computer to perform a specific data processing job for the user. It is a broad category, and encompasses software of many kinds, including the internet browser being used to display this page. Application Software It include tools in the form of programs or applications that software developers use to create, debug, maintain, or otherwise support other programs and applications. Programming Software The term usually refers to relatively simple programs such as compilers, debuggers, interpreters, linkers, and text editors, that can be combined together to accomplish a task, much as one might use multiple hand tools to fix a physical object. Programming tools are intended to assist a programmer in writing computer programs, and they may be combined in an integrated development environment (IDE) to more easily manage all of these functions. dataware Also known as Data Warehouse or Enterprise Data Warehouse
It is a central repository of data which is created by integrating data from multiple disparate sources Definition of terms Agriculture
Biological data analysis
Call record analysis
Churn Prediction for Telecom subscribers, Credit Card users etc.
Decision support
Financial forecasting
Insurance fraud analysis
Logistics and Inventory management
Trend analysis Applications in Business Refers to anything that has to do with the role of people in the development or use of computer software and hardware systems. PEOPLEWARE COMPUTERS USED BY ACCOUNTANTS Nowadays, there are many accounting software packages available in the market. These accounting software help people who are in the profession of accounting to obtain final accounts at a very high speed and it is possible to rectify errors easily and quickly. A human accountant may post a wrong entry or commit an error when writing the books of accounts.
However, a computer is a machine which is used to calculate large numbers and do other operations at a very high speed and does not commit any errors on its own It is very helpful to the modern-day practicing accountant who has to finalise the accounts and close the books of account at the end of every accounting period.
examples of peopleware Computer Engineers
The computer engineers are commonly engage in software design and application to address the needs of a particular industry or sector. They are primarily responsible for the update in the software as well as providing additional customization of current software to ensure the system functionally.
Software Engineers
The software engineer is primarily responsible for the design and development of the software of the computers, as well as its testing and evaluating . They usually work on computer chips to ensure that it is functioning well and suited to the company’s need. Information Technology Specialists
The IT specialists are tasked to plan and coordinate the installation, operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the computer’s software and hardware systems. They ensure that the necessary security programs, procedures and policies are implemented to guaranty the company’s data are safe and secure. Website Designer
Website Designers engage in the construction of the navigation schemes of a website. Their job also includes putting together online content and applications in the internet. They also work on the web page’s layout as well as the strategic placement of the useful and practical information about the website. At times, they are also responsible for conceptual design and branding. Computer Technicians
These technicians are in charge with the repair and maintenance of computer and its servers. They also build or configure new hardware as well as installing and bringing up to date the software. They are also tasked with the creation and maintenance of computer networks 2.) Utility software:
provides additional functionality to your operating system software
(e.g., anti-virus software) ETL – Extract, Transform, Load
ODS - Operational Data Store
- Integrates and combines data
Warehouse Database - where the data is arranged into hierarchical groups
Data Marts - Data marts store subsets of data from a warehouse
