and adjectives An adjective is a word that describes a noun or a pronoun. What is an adjective? Super Bowl XLV was in Dallas Texas. XLV is the adjective describing the Super Bowl (which is the noun). Where are adjectives found? Adjectives are found before nouns or after pronouns. The AFC championship decides who will go to the Super Bowl from the American Football Conference.
AFC is the adjective that describes the championship (notice how AFC, the adjective, comes before championship which is the noun). His strong legs help him muscle into the backfield.
Strong is the adjective describing his legs (notice how strong comes after his, which is the pronoun). What Kind? How Many? Which One? How Much? What kind? : The loud voice on the speaker echoed throughout the whole stadium.
Loud describes WHAT KIND of voice rang through the stadium. How Many?: Many teams have been defeated in the 45 years the NFL has hosted the Super Bowl.
Many describes HOW MANY teams have been defeated. Which one?: That team should have won the Super Bowl.
That describes WHICH ONE team should have won the Super Bowl. How Much?: The Steelers showed little enthusiasm in the first half of the Super Bowl.
Little describes how much enthusiasm the Steelers showed in the first half. Articles Proper Adjectives Indefinite Definite A An The The is a definite article. The article the refers to a specific person, place or thing.
The articles a and an are called indefinite articles. They point out a person, place or thing, but do not refer to a specific one.

an honor to play Even though most Pittsburgh fans are upset with the outcome of the Super Bowl, most American people enjoyed the game. American is the proper adjective describing what kind of people enjoyed the game. Nouns and Pronouns as Adjectives The Steelers did not play their best game.
