The flamingo habitat Flamingo food Defenses Threats prognosis Flamingos By: Vera Ludwig Flamingos are found in tropical and subtropical climates. They live in a variety of habitats including lagoons, large alkaline lakes, swamps, islands and shallow marshes. Flamingos prefer areas where they do not have to compete with the fish for food. They eat small fish and crabs Flamingos eat crustaceans, mollusks, and blue algae Flamingos have few natural enemies. flamingos usually escape when their in danger. This makes them difficult targets for natural predators. Flamingos have few natural enemies they are most vulnerable to attack by predators such as crocodiles. Humankind is also a threat. Flamingo populations are considered at risk in various areas of the world at this time. no flamingos are listed as endangered or threatened, there are areas where their survival is not assured.
