It is the biggest inland city in Australia with a population of 367,000. It is also the eighth largest city overall.
In 1908 it was selected as our nation's capital, after the rivalry between Melbourne and Sydney. It was built exactly in between the two cities, to stop them arguing.
Parliament House is also found in Canberra for the parliament of Australia. It was declared open on the 9th May 1988, by Queen Elizabeth II. Perth Canberra Perth Melbourne The capital of Western Australia is Perth with an estimated population of 1.83 million.
In 1829 the city was founded by Captain James Stirling and was used as the administrative center for the Swan River Colony. It wasn't until 1956 that it was classed as a city.
The State's Parliament, Supreme Court and Government House are also located in Perth.
Perth became known as "The City of Light" world wide when they lit their houses and streets, as John Glenn, an American astronaut passed overhead in 'Friendship 7' in 1962 and in 1998 when he passed over in the Space Shuttle. Adelaide Adelaide, capital of South Australia is the fifth largest city in our country. It has a population of 1.23 million.

47 years after European settlement, the city was founded by settlers from Van Diemen's Land, in 1835. It wasn't until 1851 that it become the state's capital. Hamish Blake Hamish Donald Blake was born 11th December 1981. He is a Gold Logie Award winning comedian, actor and author. Who lives in Melbourne. He also works on the radio and television.
Hamish attended Glen Waverley South Primary and went to high school at Caulfield Grammar School and later at St Leonard's College. He graduated in 1999. After a gap year, he went to the University of Melbourne, where he met Andy Lee. Eventually they dropped out of school pursuing a career in comedy.

In their early days they trained with SYN Radio, which lead them to creating their own show, known as 'Radio Karate.' In February 2004 it won an Antenna Award for best comedy program. A month later they were offered a national comedy program on Australia's Seven Network.
In March 2005 ‘The Hamish and Andy Show’ was broadcasted on the Seven Network, but was cancelled after two weeks, due to not enough ratings.
After this down they produced a short mockumentary titled 'The Greystone 2800.'* It won the Melbourne Comedy Festival Short Film competition and caught the eye of comedian Rove McManus. Leading to small spots on Rove's Network ten's show; Rove Live.
In 2006, Hamish and Andy developed 'Real stories' with the help of Roving Enterprises (Rove McManus' company), which was aired on Network Ten. They wrote, acted, directed, filmed and produced the show with input from Ryan Shelton and Tim Bartley.*
On the Today Network, the pair created a radio shown known as 'Hamish and Andy' in 2006 and over the years became quite successful. By 2009 it was broadcasted in all capital cities.
They made guest appearances in 'Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader?,' which was hosted by Rove McManus in September 2008 and also in the soap opera 'Neighbours,' in the same year.
Hamish and Andy presented their own one time episode on the 19th November 2008 brought to you by 'Rove: Hamish & Andy Re-Gifted: A Very Early Christmas Special.' The kangaroo and emu were chosen to support the Australian Coat of Arms because they are such popular Australian animals and also because they cannot move backwards.
