What modern-day country was home to the Aztecs?
Mexico is the modern-day country that was home to the Aztecs.
What was the name of their capital city? What was its geographical setting?
Tenochtitlan is the name of their capital city. The geographical setting is Tenochtitlan that was built on a site with a number of advantages.
A lake surrounded by mountains is the geographical setting.
Tenochtitlan was built on a site with a number of advantages. Why was it a good site for a city?
Tenochtitlan was an ideal site for a city because the city was actually built on a lake. This provided the necessary water and protection that they needed to survive.
How did they try to please their Gods?
Beans, corn, and squash.
What kind of animals did they raise to eat?
Work animals - (a.k.a cows and mules)
By sacrificing their own kind. They held sacrificial rituals as they gave their own to the gods' in order to please them. Human sacrifice was a big deal to this tribe.
Mother: They cooked, cleaned, made clothing for family.
Father: They were in charge of hunting, providing food and protection for their family.
Sons: They learned how to hunt with their Fathers
Daughters: They were left to learn how to keep up with their houses.
What kind of things did they think their Gods controlled?
