William Rufus Terrill
William Terrill was born April 21, 1834. William was born in Covington, Virginia, and grew up at Warm Springs, in Bath County, Virginia. He was a Union solider and general. On October 8, 1862 he was killed in action at the Battle of Perryville during the Civil War in Boyle County, Kentucky also known as the Battle of Chaplin Hills. The battle is considered a strategic Union victory. William was 28 years old. He was buried in West Point National Cemetery.
James Barbour Terrill
James Terrill was born February 20th, 1838 in Bath County, Virginia. He joined the Confederate States Army and was elected major of the 13th Virginia Infantry Regiment in May 1861. On May 30, 1864, he was killed in action at the Battle of Totopotomoy Creek or Battle Bethesda Church in Hanover County, Virginia. The battle was inconclusive on who won. James was 26 years old. He was buried at Bethesda Church, near the battlefield, by Union troops.

William and James were brothers. They were Brigadier Generals fighting on opposites sides in the Civil War.
