Nirvana 1. log into your school email by heading to
http://mail.google.com or from your district/school site 2. Compose a message, sending it to post@posterous.com
The subject line becomes the title of your post/entry
The body of the message is the post content
Since it's your first post, welcome your visitors!
Send your message 3. In a minute or two, you'll get a response from Posterous, urging you to view your new post - do so! The first thing you'll want to do is to give the site a name:
Make sure you are logged into your site: go to http://posterous.com and use the 'Log In' box at the top right, once your account is set.
Click on 'Spaces' in the top black bar.
Click on the gear icon next to your space name, then click 'Space Settings' in the menu that drops down.
Click the 'Edit' button under 'Name Your Space' to give the site a name and subheading if you'd like to use that.
See the next slide for details.
Be sure to save your settings! 7. Next, let's pick a theme or template:
From the Space Settings, click the 'Edit Theme button in the 'Look and Feel' options.
A new window will open up with 40 or so theme options. Click one or many to try them out.
Once you are happy, click the big green 'Save, I'm done!' button on the lower right. Posterous:
Creating a new post You CAN post from your site, but the easiest way is to just use email - you already know how to do that! To review, just compose a new message in your school email:
Send it to post@posterous.com
The subject is the post title
The email body is the content Here's the great part - attach just about ANYTHING to your post, and Posterous will figure out what to do with it.
Attach Office files (.doc(x), .ppt(x), .xls(x)), .mov, .wmv, .jpg, .png, .pdf, .mp3.......
Attach multiple photos to create a gallery
If you paste a link from a Google Map or YouTube video in your post, Posterous will do the map and video embedding for you! Send it, and your site has been updated. If you are viewing your site, it's easy to post - just click the 'Post' button on the top right, or the 'Manage' button to view all of your entries.
