Dull vs Vivid
Grey vs Colorful

Grey words have no body or life to them.

Grey words are standard and don't create any sort of feeling or evoke any senses.
Vivid!
Vivid words...
are more unique.
are more specific.
create voice.
Examples
We
struggled
and
overcame
and the trophy was ours!

We
flew
there as quickly as we could in hopes that there would still be cake for us.

He
created
the beautiful masterpiece using only toothpicks and he was very proud of his work.
Colorful!
Colorful words...
evoke the senses.
express things in unique ways.
create pictures and feelings for the reader.
Dull
Dull words are basic and predictable.

Often they are more general and less concrete.
