The Way We Were 1973 Oscar winner Written for a movie with the similar title of "The Way We Were" TWWW (The Way We Were) won two awards that year. Best Original Dramatic Score and Best Original Song.. The movie was released in 1973 and directed by Sydney Pollack Barbra Streisand Barbra was born in Brooklyn on the 24th of April in 1942. Her dream was to sing and and she did. But her career really took off after Broadway in 1962. Since then she has been on Broadway several times. Barbra has won several Grammy awards millions of records sold and the only artist to have #1 albums spanning 4 decades> In my opinion this song was OK but the tempo was too slow and depressing. Mm. Mm.
Memories, light the corners of my mind
Misty watercolor memories of the way we were.
Scattered pictures of the smiles we left behind
smiles we give to one another
for the way we were.
Can it be that it was all so simple then
or has time rewritten every line?
If we had the chance to do it all again
tell me would we? Could we?
Memories, may be beautiful and yet
what's too painful to remember
we simply choose to forget
So it's the laughter we will remember
whenever we remember[ From: http://www.metrolyrics.com/the-way-we-were-lyrics-barbara-streisand.htm Personally I like upbeat, loud and rocking music and dislike sad, depressing slow music. This song is both slow and depressing. The lyrics don't help cause they too are depressing. I do not think this deserved to win. In my professional opinion I think "Live and Let Die"(from the Bond movie Live and Let Die) deserved to win. I mean it's a JAMES BOND MOVIE. Plus it's a lot more upbeat then TWWW. Live and Let Die also has a faster tempo and holds that much more awesomeness. TWWW lacks in several areas and I believe Live and Let Die possess these lacking artifacts. For example the lyrics, in my opinion were better and stronger, they really support the song. But TWWW won any way so I doesn't matter what I say. The movie is a flash back revealing the story of 2 lovers. T The Way We Were is a love story between two opposite people, Katie and Hubbell. They meet and the love develops and many years later meet in a bar and they fall in love. They move to Hollywood to produce a movie but get shut down and they break apart. Katie tries to get back while Hubbell worries about his job. They meet many years later and they both get back into writing. Together they make a Hollywood writing team.
