Famous Serial Killers
Ted Bundy
"We serial killers are your sons, we are your husbands, we are everywhere. And there will be more of your children dead tomorrow."

Ted Bundy was a charming, intellegent, and charasmatic person, but he was also one of America's worst serial killers. It has been estimated that Ted Bundy has killed at least 28 women.

Ted Bundy fell in love with a woman he met in college, Stephanie Brooks. But when she cut off relations with him he never got over her and eventually became obsessed with choosing his victims who looked similarly to Brooks. Bundy went on to viciously rape and then murder his victims.

Later in an interview before his execution, Bundy claimed that pornography led him to become a serial lust killer.
John Wayne Gacy
"A clown can get away with murder."

John Wayne Gacy was born on March 17, 1942. He was known to torture, rape, and then stangle his victims. He has killed 33 people and was known as the "killer clown" because he enjoyed dressing up as a clown and volunteering at parades and kids' birthday parties.

Gacy was executed by lethal injection on May 10, 1994. Gacy's childhood abuse by his father is said what led him to kill. However Gacy says his victims "deserved to die".
Herbert Mullin
Charles Manson
Edmond Kemper
Conclusion
Edmond Kemper
"I remember there was actually a sexual thrill...you hear that little pop and pull their heads off and hold their heads up by the hair. Whipping their heads off, their body sitting there. That'd get me off."

Kemper's parents were divorced and he lived with his alcoholic mother. His mother often criticized him. When he was young he cut the heads off his sisters dolls and eventually killed his cat with knife.

Kemper was sent to live with his parents and shot them to "see what it felt like". Kemper killed a total of 6 women and 3 of his family members.

Kemper blamed his mother as his reasoning to kill.
Charles Manson
"I've killed no one. I've ordered no on to be killed. These children who come to you with their knives, they're your children. I didn't teach them, you did."

Charles Manson started a cult called "the family" in which he talked his followers in to killing 5 people. He manipulated everyone he met.

Manson's mother had him when she was only 16 and she ran away from home at age 15. She was an alcoholic and once traded Manson for a pitcher of beer. She was an unfit mother and Manson grew up in different places with different people all through his childhood.

Manson stated stealing at the young age of 6 and was often in trouble when he was young.

Manson has no explanation for why he made his "family" kill.
Soon after that Mullin started experiencing with drugs such as pot, acid, and shrooms. His mix of drugs with his mental illness, schizophrenia, was a disaster.

Mullin started hearing voices which told him to kill.

Mullin blamed his killings on the voices in his head. He believed that he became that way because of his drug use.
Henry Lee Lucas
"Killing became the same thing as having sex."

Henry Lee Lucas was born on August 23, 1936. He allegedly killed hundreds of people. However there are 3 confirmed murders he did commit: his mother, Becky Powell (his young niece who was mildly retarted who he also was "romantically involved" with), and Katherine Rich (an elderly woman who he had been staying with).

Herbert Mullin
"Satan gets into people and makes them do things they don't want to."

Herbert Mullin, also known as the Santa Cruz Killer, killed 13 people with no certain patter. Killing people from executioner style, to stabbing, to beating someone to death with a baseball bat.

Mullin grew up with a normal family and had a normal childhood. He was also voted "most likely to succeed" in high school. But when his best friend, Dean Richardson, was tragically killed in a car accident everything seemed down hill from there.
Henry Lee Lucas was raised by his abusive alchoholic parents and his mother was also a prositute. He was reported for having sex with his half brother and dead animals.

Henry Lee Lucas went on to blame is killings because of his abusive parents.
Jeffrey Dahmer
"My consuming lust was to experience their bodies. I viewed them as objects, as strangers. It is hard for me to believe a human being could have done what I've done."

Dahmer lived a good childhood just as any normal child would. But soon he became withdrawn and started collecting road kill, disecting animals, and saving the bones. Later in his life, Dahmer developed a drinking problem.

Dahmer killed 17 people, he would find his victims in gay bars and convince them to come back to his apartment. There he would kill his victims often by strangling them and then having sex with their corpses. He would later eat left over parts of his victims bodies and keep their skulls.

Later in an interview Dahmer says he killed because a part of him was missing.
.
Serial killers have many different excuses as to why they kill. For some its their upbringing, some its traumatic events, others have no excuse. A serial killers mind is truly a dark and horrific place.
