Golden Age? The years between 1840 and 1870 were the "Golden Age" for the Maritime colonies. It was the age of wind, wood and sail. The Maritime shipbuilders were respected for the wooden sailing ships they made. British North America had the fourth largest shipping fleet in the world. Why Did Some Provinces choose to be a part of Confederation While Others
Did Not? Nova Scotia and New Brunswick joined confederation immediately. Newfoundland and PEI waited and Newfoundland had felt that they had less common things with the other colonies and they also thought that they would have really little impact on it. PEI thought that they were to small and would get crushed by the other colonies. How Did Confederation strengthen the Maritime Colonies? Confederation brought representation by population, where elected members all represent the same amount
of people. The Eastern colonies were growing. Now New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland all could trade between eachother and other countries, Thanks For Watching=D BIBLIOGRAPHY
