HERES THE BOOK
medgar evers was born on July 2, 1925 in Decatur, Mississippi.
Medgar was 3rd out of 5 children
Him and his family lived on a small farm that was far away from many things.
It was so far away that he had to walk 12 miles to school!
Since walking 12 miles to school Medgar was very deadecated to his education.
In 1948 he enrolled at Alcorn College and studied business administration. He also did choir, track and football during school.
All this hard work payed off when he earned his Bachelor of Arts.
Medgar fought in the European theater and the Battle of Normandy during World War II
He was awared as a sergant!!
Medgar married one of his class mates, her name
was Mayrlie Beasley.
They had 3 children and their names were:
Darrell, Reena, and James
Sadly darrell died of colon cancer
Medgar became a salesman for an Mutual Life
Medgar and his brother helped orangize the RCWL'S boycott for stoping stations who didnt allow African American to use same restrooms.
He also attendent every meeting.
This also made many people hated him, that leaded to his death.
On June 12, medgar was pulling into
his drive-way when a member of the
kkk approach him from behind and
shot him in his back. He was rushed to
a hospital and 50 minutes later he was
pronouced dead. The member of the
kkk was later blamed and arrested.
Medgar was a hudge inpact on people. His legacy still lingers
around now. Many people rote songs and short stories that go with is assassination and speeches.
