03.11 How Can We Clean Up an Oil Spill?
Oil has be split all over the place!
How do you clean up an oil spill?
If I use a spoon to scoop out the oil, then there will be less oil.
Materials & Procedure
Bowl, spoon, vegetable oil, water.

Put water in the bowl. Then, put colored dye into the bowl to give it the blue effect, making the water look like an ocean. Gently put spoon in the "ocean" and let the oil absorb into the spoon.
Data collected & Analysis
Data: Oil absorbs due to being a liquid

Absorbtion can be used to clean up oil spills. However, it may take a while, so you have to work fast before the oil spreads.

If you absorb the oil into the spoon, then most of the oil will be cleaned out.
This would work in a natural environment because the oil, while much bigger in a sea, would be able to be sucked in and clean the ocean.

The lab was really hard for me at first, until I kept trying after a few tries. What I would do differently is most likely try a new way to fix the oil and get it cleaned up, instead of using a spoon.
